"Coaching & Management Beyond The Obvious"

Master's Level 1 (Ages 12 – 17 years)

This after school and weekend program will cater to players who are fully committed to further developing and adding key components to their existing game through an intense training environment.

Players will achieve a greater understanding and awareness of their positioning on the court, along with the ability to identify what kind of ball they are receiving and where that ball should be returned.

Solidifying the basics: Identifying game style & Movement patterns

Emphasis will be placed on developing players overall strokes with attention placed on understanding their game style and developing the proper footwork patterns so that the necessary muscle memory is strengthened.

Improvisation: Constant contact zone

Players will develop more court awareness about the difficult situations that arise on the court during the rally; players will be able to consistently turn defensive positions into offensive and learn how to stay in the point as much as possible while maintaining constant racket head speed.

Next level: Developing a weapon

As players start to understand the difference between offensive and defensive play their own strokes and styles of play will start to take shape. This will then progress to developing a specific area of their game make-up into a weapon.

To further reinforce these finer aspects of the programme the following topics of emphasis will be worked on:

  1. Error reduction & correction for practice sessions and tournament play
  2. Analysing opponents strengths and weaknesses
  3. Effective shot selection for competing against various types of opponents
  4. Offensive and defensive court coverage for the 5 zones of the court
